Sad Story: The Poor Hijacked Blogger Blog
I first noticed something was amiss when I was in my Blogger Dashboard a couple weeks ago. Three of my blogs were listed normally, but the fourth blog had a link that said, "Restore access to this blog."
Having no idea what was going on, I clicked on that link and got a message that one of my blogs had been disabled for suspicision of being a spam blog. WHAT???!
I knew that blog wasn't a spam blog, it had a lot of good posts all written by me. So I opened another browser window and typed in the address of my blog. What came up was NOT my blog. It was a page filled with spammy ads and nonsense posts.
What happened to my BLOG????!!!!
I spent the next several days trying to get help from Blogger. I went through every nook and cranny of their online Help system, but there was no mention of hijacked blogs. I tried to send a note by choosing another Help topic, but I only got an automated response that didn't help.
I searched high and low for an email address to contact someone, but couldn't find one on the Blogger site anywhere.
Finally after doing a Google search I came up with a support email for blogger. I sent an email describing the situation and waited 2 days. No response.
I sent another email - and got an automated response that they no longer respond to messages sent to that address.
I was out of luck, and my blog was gone forever.
As much as it pains me to lose something I spent so much time on, it could have been much worse. The blog that was hijacked was my least active blog. I was thinking about closing it down anyway.
But my OTHER three blogs - there was no way I could leave them in Blogger's hands anymore. What if this hacker has access to my Blogger account? I don't know how he or she even managed to hijack my blog in the first place. Is it a weakness in Blogger's server? Could it happen to my other 3 blogs?
No one at Blogger would help me, so I'm not taking any chances. My 3 remaining blogs have all been transferred to their own servers.
I'll leave these archives up for as long as Blogger wants to keep them (or until they get hacked! ;-) but for all new posts be sure to visit: http://www.creativeworkathome.com/blog
